Hope for the Day Internship
Conversation Summit Backdrop
237.8x91.5 Print
This is the ““Conversation Summit” event held yearly at UIC which holds small seminars based on the mental health issues.
The task my internship required of me was to design the large backdrop which would sit on stage for promotion and as a visual. one challenge was thinking about how this backdrop would be viewed at this scale, height, distance on the stage. Using what I learned about safe visual areas for vision and just some basic intuition, I was able to make a bold backdrop for my internship and their event.
Conversation Summit Timesheet

This sheet would display the time and location of each seminar at UIC Conversation Summit. This is 1 of 7 sheets.
The challenge I overcame was having to fill the entire page with relevant information. Initially, the request was only for the event name and time. However, I took it a step further by integrating the event description and host, along with a subtle visual on the right side to depict time in an analog way. longer events would get a larger box and shorter events a smaller box and they would be placed according to their start time on the line.
Sad Summer Cards

For Self-care Summer, these cards were to be posted online throughout the month for the Sad Summer Tour. HFTD’s signature yellow is used primarily and accented with the pink as a part of Sad Summer’s involvement. Each card defines stigmas and gives ways to “Self-Care.”
Spanish Translation

HFTD needed someone who spoke Spanish, and this is where I played a big role. Because I am Bilingual, we were able to reach the large Latino community of Chicago in a bigger way than ever before.
Team Thrive Run

A monthly run hosted by Team Thrive. The objective was to use photos of previous races taken by our Photographer and integrate them into a layout for a poster which was easy to read and understand. Eye-flow and layout are at the peak of my attention, especially in an informative poster such as this.

Support Staff Landing page I created on Squarespace HFTD official website. Support Staff deals with the mental health challenges facing the food + beverage industry.
Support Staff Branding (right)

My first assignment at HFTD was to familiarize myself with the Support Staff design language. I decided to re-brand the existing Support Staff identity (left) with something more manageable (right).
My re-brand sports a cleaner look with a better layout and stronger hierarchy- large yellow text was used for the important information, then white for subsequent information and lastly blue for additional info. Support Staff uses neon lights as their visuals so I updated the neon sign logo. This re-branded poster was created in less than an hour only as practice.
Penny Pinch Drawing
This is a drawing by Chicago artist Penny Pinch. This was a drawing to promote an event held by our “Support Staff.”
Penny pinch sent a black & white drawing with the illustration and penned lettering. My job was to add the event sponsor logos, whilst also colorizing the drawing- which was approved by the artist himself. Penny pinch posted my version to advertise the event on Instagram and so did others.

HFTD social media division needed more art to post to their Instagram grid so I helped them out by creating a piece for them with my design and illustration skills.
