Hope for the Day is a non profit organization I interned at. HFTD deals with suicide prevention and creates all sorts of resources to help individuals. My job was to help with designing social posts, event flyers, handouts and more.
I worked at Hope for the Day from June 2019 - January 2020
Conversation Summit Backdrop
237.8x91.5 Print
The “Conversation Summit” event holds seminars on mental health issues. I helped design the large backdrop which sat on stage. one challenge was thinking about how it would be viewed at this scale, height, and distance. Using what I learned about safe visual areas, I achieved a striking design.
Conversation Summit Timesheet
8.5x11 Print
This sheet displayed the time and location of each seminar at UIC Conversation Summit. This is 1 of 7 sheets.
The challenge I overcame was filling the page with relevant information. Initially, only the event name and time were needed. I took it a step further by integrating the event description and host. Longer events would get a larger box and shorter events a smaller box and they would be placed according to their start time on the line.
Sad Summer Cards

For Self-care Summer, these cards were to be posted online throughout the month for the Sad Summer Tour. HFTD’s signature yellow is used primarily and accented with the pink from Sad Summer. Each card defines stigmas and gives ways to “Self-Care.”
Spanish Translation

HFTD needed someone who spoke Spanish, and this is where I played a big role. Because I am Bilingual, we were able to reach the large Latino community of Chicago in a bigger way than ever before.

A monthly run hosted by Team Thrive. Using photos of previous races taken by our photographer, I designed a poster with a layout focused on eye-flow. Hierarchy is key for displaying information.
Support Staff Landing-page Screenshot
Support Staff Landing page I created on Squarespace HFTD official website. Support Staff deals with the mental health challenges facing the food + beverage industry.
Support Staff Branding (right)
11x17 Print
My first assignment at HFTD was to familiarize myself with the Support Staff design language. I decided to re-brand the existing Support Staff identity (left) with something more manageable (right). I used large yellow text for important information, white for subsequent information and lastly blue for additional info.
Penny Pinch Drawing
This is a drawing by Chicago artist "Penny Pinch". This was a drawing to promote an event held by our “Support Staff.” Penny pinch sent a black & white drawing with the illustration and penned lettering. My job was to add the event sponsor logos and colorizing the drawing. Penny pinch posted my version to advertise the event on Instagram and so did others.

HFTD social media division needed more art to post to their Instagram grid so I helped them out by creating a piece for them with my design and illustration skills.
